Kari grew up in Senegal with her missionary parents. Prior to joining Karaka she spent 7 months hiking the appalachian trail. She sailed with us in the Sea of Cortez and stayed on Karaka as a boatsitter while we went to visit family in France. She also happened to be in Costa Rica while we were there in 2013 and so hung out with us a bit then.
