Music on Board

On board Karaka, music is important. The boat is equipped with a stereo, on which we can connect any MP3 players.
Almost everybody nowadays have some music stored and so over the years I have stolen what I consider a fairly good selection. There is a rough list below with most of my old favorites. Crew members are more than welcome to bring more. There is a lot of world music, african, latino, gypsy, a big selection of french music, jazz and blues, rock, folk and a massive amount of reggae. You can note there is no emphasis on pop, hip hop, heavy metal, dance or techno that's because I don't really appreciate those so if you that's your style, don't forget to bring hearphones for private listening.

Otherwise, there is very frequently some live music being played, of various quality. I am myself a mediocre musician, but I can make noise and play along on the accordeon or the concertina. There are several instruments on board: a 72 bass piano accordeon(unfortunately unplayable as utterly out of tune as of this writing), an english concertina, a classic guitar, a folk guitar, two ukuleles, a very old trumpet, several harmonicas, two melodicas, two big djembes, bongos and a bunch of noise makers, rain stick, tambourine, kazoo, etc, so that even the musically challenged can participate. Crew members can take along their instruments, although keep in mind you will have to travel with them and that the marine environment is harsh.
