Emma

I am Emma, a French woman born in Normandy in 1981. I grew up in the countryside, with hobbies such as drawing, biking, and building treehouses. I dreamed of adventure and travel.

However, instead, until I was 32 years old, I lived in the frenzy of Paris, working in database analysis and management, business application development, self-taught and in constant search of knowledge but lacking fulfillment. I saw the world around me becoming crazy and felt like I was wasting my time.

But in 2014, I made a radical decision.

I decided to leave everything behind and start over.

Without knowing exactly what the future held for me, I answered the call of my brother, who was living on his boat in Bora Bora, French Polynesia.

Paradise on Earth!

At that time, I couldn’t believe it. I thought that kind of thing was reserved for people you saw in documentaries. I had never set foot on a sailboat, and diving more than five meters was a feat for me… (A few months later, I was diving 15-20 meters deep on a single breath).

I spent weeks swimming and diving every day, observing and recognizing the fish on each coral head, following rays and sharks. It was magical. Far from civilization, far from the media, I was able to take stock of my life and reflect without interference.

As my return ticket date approached, with only one month left, I decided to visit Moorea and Tahiti… and rent a car. While driving around, I picked up a hitchhiker. That’s how Tom and I met for the first time.

One week later, I boarded Karaka, and my life completely changed.

I live at the rhythm of nature and the seasons, and of the sun.

We are far from the media, supermarkets, overconsumption, and stress of the cities.

On the boat, we create, tinker, move around, and party… we live.

It’s a lot of maintenance, and we are at the mercy of the elements, but it’s so worth it !

We need each other to grow and discover ourselves. By meeting different people, we can find what suits us, what we would like to try, and what we are capable of doing.

Therefore, it’s a pleasure to welcome and introduce our way of life to new candidates for wandering the seas and oceans!
